Job summary

BMW Manufacturing Company offers a structured student co-op program in Spartanburg, SC. You will contribute to launching and validating engineering changes, while building data analytic skills to optimize reporting and processes.

As a full-time on-site student, you will work under mentors, manage multiple projects, and gain hands-on experience with SAP, SQL, and data tools. January 11th–May 14th, 2027, requires a transcript and on-site presence.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing BS or graduate degree in a relevant field with good academic standing.
  • Strong MS Excel and Office Suite knowledge required.
  • Ability to learn BMW Group systems including SAP and SQL.
  • Experience with project management and structured planning.

Responsibilities

  • Support Launch and Change Coordinators with engineering changes.
  • Create, manage, and validate component overviews for specific parts of the car.
  • Contribute to Test Car BOM validation and design change verification.
  • Coordinate Line Trials and observe new parts in production environment.
  • Investigate design topics through data analysis and report generation.

Job description

Description:
  • The student will be exposed to new product content, involved in projects, and engage in collaborative department work.
  • The intent is to develop the candidate to lead their own project if possible.
  • The Co-op will support the launch and change coordinators with activities to verify the bill of material and demand logic changes for vehicle production.
  • The student's projects will involve development and optimizing of data analytical systems to improve processes and reporting.
The qualified co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:
  • Support Launch and Change Coordinators with engineering changes
  • Create, manage, and validate component overviews for specific parts of the car
  • Contribute to Test Car BOM (Bill of Material) validation, where the new design changes are verified (i.e. the correct part is systematically steered to the correct vehicle)
  • Support the coordination of Line Trials, where new parts are physically tested in the production environment
  • Investigate design topics through data analysis
  • Report generation and maintenance
  • Other duties as assigned by management and/or mentors
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a BS or Graduate Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Management, Operations Management, MIS (Management Information Systems), Computer Science or other relevant degrees.
  • MS Excel and Office Suite knowledge
  • Strong computer aptitude (ability to learn BMW Group systems, SAP, SQL, etc.)
  • Project Management
  • Planning and Organizational skills; able to manage many projects and responsibilities in a structured manner
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative
  • VBA (or Python) and JAVA skills preferred
  • Knowledge or experience of manufacturing processes and workflows preferred
  • German language is a plus
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)
  • Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week)
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE January 11th - May 14th, 2027.
