Job summary

BMW Manufacturing Company is hosting a student intern/co-op program in Spartanburg, SC. The role focuses on planning prototype car activities, ensuring on-time adherence to plant targets, and contributing to multiple launch-related tasks.

You will manage schedules, support cross-functional workshops, and develop data tools under guidance from Lean/Project Management mentors. Qualifications include enrolled student status in the US, strong Excel skills, and ability to work on-site full-time

Qualifications

  • Majors: Industrial Engineering, Data/Business Analytics, Logistics/Operations Management, Business, International Business, MIS, Computer Science.
  • MS Excel/Office Suite proficiency.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Preferred programming experience (VBA, Matlab, R, Python, SQL).
  • German language is a plus.
  • Must be enrolled as a student in the United States and have at least 30 credit hours completed.
  • GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Must be on-site, full-time (40 hours/week) during term and enrolled for all rotations.
  • Must attach unofficial transcript and pass substance abuse test.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Throughput Schedule for H50 and H52.
  • Manage the Current Schedule.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings/workshops.
  • Create Assembly Drop requests for H50 and H52.
  • Manage Transport Ordering for NSG car airfreight.
  • Create Synchro Files and Option Matrices.
  • Run weekly verification for NSG build data.
  • Create Status 5000 requests promptly.
  • Lead Throughput and TAS meetings.
  • Capture and communicate lessons learned from processes during launch.
  • Maintain overview of technical vehicle content for partners.
  • Evaluate meetings for best practices.
  • Optimize DAVE/Throughput/Current Schedule planning.
  • Facilitate Launch Workshops for SOPs.
  • Optimize ATG/RWK timing for resources.
  • Support Launch Milestones PM activities.
  • Streamline reporting for Launch Parts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Description:

Student intern, under guidance from Launch Steering, Project Management, Parts Integration mentors, will manage the day-to-day planning of activities of protoype cars to ensure accurate on-time adherence to Plant Spartanburg targets. At the end of each rotation the student intern should be able to:

  • Manage the Throughput Schedule for both H50 and H52.
  • Manage the Current Schedule.
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings/workshops.

The qualified intern / Co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Create Assembly Drop requests for both H50 and H52.
  • Manage the Transport Ordering process for Airfreight delivery of NSG cars.
  • Manage and create Synchro Files and Option Matrices.
  • Run Verification program weekly to ensure data accuracy of NSG builds.
  • Create Status 5000 requests in a timely manner.
  • Manage and facilitate Throughput and internal TAS meetings. Other meetings as assigned.
  • Capture, evaluate, and communicate lessons learned from processes across all technologies during launch.
  • Maintain an overview of technical vehicle content for communication to process partners.
  • Evaluate meetings across the plant to ensure conformity to best practices.
  • Optimize DAVE/Throughput/Current Schedule planning.
  • Facilitate Launch Workshops for upcoming SOP's.
  • Optimize ATG/RWK timing of activities to optimize resource allocation.
  • Support project management activities around Launch Milestones
  • Support in streamlining reporting process for Launch Parts
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Majors: Industrial Engineering, Data/Business Analytics, Logistics/Operations Management, Business, International Business, MIS (Management Information Systems), Computer Science
  • MS Excel/Office Suite, quick learner for new computer skills
  • Planning and Organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative
  • Preferred previous Programming Experience (VBA, Matlab, R, Python, SQL etc.)
  • German Language is a plus
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (Not just in major).
  • Have enrolled student status at an accredited four year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT.
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE January 11th - May 14th, 2027.
  • Must be an enrolled student during all three rotations.
