Job summary

Orchid MPS Holdings, LLC seeks a CNC Set Up Machinist to join its Chelsea, MI manufacturing team, contributing to the production of medical devices. You will set up and operate CNC lathes with 3–5 axis capability, ensuring accuracy and adherence to quality systems.

The role requires hands-on CNC lathe setup experience, lean manufacturing background, and the ability to manage multiple machines while maintaining safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on CNC lathe experience required; set-up and operation preferred.
• Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
• Must identify X, Y, Z coordinates; able to operate multiple CNC machines.

Responsibilities

• Set up 3- and 4-axis CNC machines.
• Set up 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machines.
• Operate multiple machines simultaneously.
• Monitor programs and ensure proper performance.
• Complete work orders, inspections, and daily maintenance sheets.
• Make off sets and adjustments with minimal supervision.
• Maintain health and safety and adhere to QMS procedures.
• Complete required training.

A BRIEF OVERVIEW The CNC Set Up Machinist contributes to the production of medical devices by operating and performing basic set ups of CNC machines. This position requires hands‑on CNC lathe experience, including previous experience setting up and operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment. The CNC Set Up Machinist must be able to identify X, Y, Z, and 0 coordinates and may operate multiple CNC machines simultaneously, including lathes and mills. Previous CNC machine set‑up experience in a manufacturing environment is required, with CNC lathe set‑up experience strongly preferred.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Performs set up of 3 & 4 Axis CNC machines.
• Performs set up of 3, 4, and 5 Axis CNC machines.
• Operates multiple machines simultaneously.
• Monitors the machine to ensure proper program performance.
• Completes shop work orders, inspection documentation, and daily maintenance sheets.
• Makes off sets and adjustments to machines with minimal supervision.
• Advocates for the health and safety of self, co‑workers, customers, and the community.
• Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Completes all required training.
