Job summary

GA Telesis in Medley, FL, is seeking an experienced Lathe Operator to operate CNC and manual lathes, reading engineering drawings and turning aviation-grade materials such as aluminum, steel, and titanium.

You will set up machines, perform turning and threading, ensure tight tolerances, document process steps, and collaborate with engineers and supervisors to resolve manufacturing issues. Candidates should have 2–3 years' lathe experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in machining, mechanical engineering, or a related field is highly preferred
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a lathe operator, preferably in the aviation or aerospace industry
• Strong knowledge of lathe operation, CNC programming, and machining techniques
• Experience working with aviation-grade materials, such as aluminum, steel, and titanium
• Familiarity with safety standards and best practices related to lathe operation in an industrial setting
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up CNC and manual lathe machines to produce high-precision aviation components, parts, and tools
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine part specifications and machining operations
• Perform turning, threading, and other lathe operations on various metals, including aluminum, titanium, and steel
• Ensure parts are produced to precise tolerances and quality standards in compliance with aviation regulations
• Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of lathe machines
• Use micrometers, calipers, and gauges to inspect finished parts and verify conformance
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and store/maintain tools and equipment
• Document work performed, including inspection results, material consumption, and machine settings
• Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to resolve manufacturing or design issues
• Other duties as required

The ideal candidate will operate and maintain precision lathe machinery used in the production and repair of aviation components. This role requires a solid understanding of machining techniques, including turning, threading, and precision measurement. This position is located in Medley, FL.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up CNC and manual lathe machines to produce high-precision aviation components, parts, and tools
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine part specifications and machining operations

• Ensure that all parts are produced to precise tolerances and quality standards in compliance with aviation industry regulations
