Job summary

Moog Military Aircraft LLC is seeking a Lathe Machinist I for the 2nd shift in Buffalo, NY. You will manufacture high-precision components for mission-critical aerospace programs, performing CNC lathe operations with milling capabilities and inspecting parts to tight tolerances.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and CNC program training or machinist experience. A $3,500 sign-on bonus is offered and a 2nd shift differential may apply.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year experience as a general machinist or graduation from a CNC certification/training program.
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
  • Able to follow English work instructions and perform basic arithmetic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform set-ups and run parts on a CNC lathe with milling capabilities to close tolerances, fine finishes, and complex geometry.
  • Inspect all work, set up or adjust gaging equipment, detect deviations, and recognize blueprint errors.
  • Interpret complex drawings, including GD&T blueprints, sketches and operation sheets.

Job Title: Lathe Machinist I - 2nd Shift Reporting To: Leader, Performance Work Schedule: Onsite - Buffalo, NY

As a machinist within our Military Aircraft Group, you will machine some of the most challenging parts which will be used on major production programs such as F-35, MQ-25, and FLRAA.

Currently, we are seeking a skilled Lathe Machinist who takes pride in precision craftsmanship and wants to see their work contribute to some of the world's most advanced programs.

In this role, you'll manufacture complex, high-precision components used in flight-critical systems where quality, reliability, and performance are non-negotiable. This position is eligible for a $3,500 sign-on bonus.

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • At least 1 year experience as a general machinist OR Graduation from a formal manufacturing, machining, or CNC certification/training program
  • Demonstrated ability to follow an escalation path as it applied to machining.
  • Familiarity using various measuring equipment, including but not limited to, Micrometers and Dial Bore Gauges
  • Competency in reading and interpreting blueprints and written work instructions.

In accordance with strict Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.) regulations regarding Safety Sensitive Work (S.S.W.), employee enrollment & participation in the company’s "F.A.A. Drug & Alcohol Program" is a requirement for this position.

As a Machinist I, you will:
  • Perform set-ups and run parts on a CNC lathe with milling capabilities to close tolerances, fine finishes, and complex geometry.
  • Be responsible for the inspection of all work performed, setting up or adjusting gaging equipment, detecting unusual conditions, deviant parts; and when needed recognizing errors in blueprints and operation sheets.
  • Interpret complex drawings, including GD&T blueprints, sketches and operation sheets.

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $22.00-$27.00 Hourly Salary Range Disclaimer The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
