Job summary

Applied Aerospace & Defense in Enfield, CT, seeks an experienced Machinist - Lathe for 2nd shift to set up and operate horizontal and vertical CNC lathes per engineering specs, GD&T, and blueprints. Strong measurement and tooling knowledge required; lifting up to 50 lbs. HS diploma or GED, 7–10 years aerospace machining experience preferred.

The role requires English fluency, good communication, and the ability to read instructions. Full-time with varied shifts; sign-on bonus available.

Qualifications

HS diploma or GED required.
7–10 years CNC lathe machining experience in aerospace manufacturing.
Ability to read and follow written and oral work instructions in English.
Knowledge of reading engineering blueprints and GD&T.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate Horizontal and Vertical CNC Lathes according to engineering specifications, GD&T and operation sheets.
Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures and tool holders for a given job.
Run similar jobs of short cycle times for extended periods of time where manufacturing processes are stable.
Read and interpret engineering instructions, travelers, and blueprints and be familiar with geometric tolerances and principles.
Operate more than one machine at a time, one to two machines depending on the job complexity.
Perform routine maintenance on production equipment and report malfunctions to maintenance personnel or supervisor.
Operate lifting and handling equipment to move components to desired locations.
