Job Overview

Lathe Machinist

Pay Rate Range: $72,000.00 - $93,000.00 per year

Location: Hastings, MN

Schedule: Shift work, 2nd or 3rd Shift (part-time or full-time options), Monday to Sunday 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Position Type: Direct Hire

Requirements and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) specifications, and technical drawings
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, materials, and tooling geometry
• Expertise in using precision measurement tools
• Familiarity with various CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Haas)
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
• Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Preferred: Experience with G‑Code and M‑Code programming or Computer‑Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software
• Preferred: Experience with multi‑axis or live‑tooling lathe machines

Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes, including loading programs, tooling selection, offset adjustments, and fixture setup
• Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining operations, sequences, and dimensional specifications
• Perform machine start-up and shut-down procedures
• Machine parts to required specifications and within tight tolerances
• Monitor the machine during operation, adjusting feed rates, cutting speeds, and depth of cut as needed
• Perform in‑process inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure parts meet quality standards
• Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions or quality issues that arise during machining
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on CNC lathes to ensure optimal performance and longevity
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety regulations
• Replace worn tools and inserts as necessary
• Adjust existing CNC programs (offsets, minor edits) at the machine control
• Accurately complete production documentation, logs, and reports
