Wilson Sonsini is seeking a Lateral Recruiting Coordinator to support the firmwide Lateral Recruiting Team, with an emphasis on East Coast hiring as well as the London and Brussels processes. This hybrid role requires strong coordination skills across offices and time zones, along with experience supporting the full candidate journey from initial screening through offer documentation.
Role Overview
The Lateral Recruiting Coordinator assists with screening materials, coordinating interviews across multiple locations, and supporting European hiring steps for candidates. The position also involves maintaining accurate tracking records, producing recruiting reports, and partnering with recruiters and the Onboarding Coordinator to support an efficient transition from interview to hire.
Key Responsibilities
- Review candidate materials, including resumes, law school transcripts and GPA information, as well as writing samples or deal sheets.
- Provide candidates with introductions to practice group leaders and hiring partners, ensuring all relevant information is included.
- Coordinate interview scheduling for East Coast offices (Boston, DC, New York, Wilmington), London, and Brussels, managing multi-office scheduling across time zones.
- Maintain a seamless candidate communication and experience throughout the interview process.
- Prepare initial drafts of European employment contracts, offer letters, and employment agreements, and confirm receipt of appropriate candidate documents.
- Coordinate with London and Brussels office management on candidate logistics and related hiring processes.
- Confirm London and Brussels benefits information with HR as needed and update templates to reflect revisions.
- Support recruiting events for Patent Agent hiring, including logistics, invitations, and materials.
- Maintain candidate tracking systems and produce recruiting reports as required.
- Partner with recruiters and the Onboarding Coordinator to support the transition from interview to hire.
- Meet deadlines and provide process efficiency recommendations as a subject matter expert for East Coast and European interview coordination.
- Ensure compliance with firm processes and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Identify process improvements and challenge the status quo to enhance the candidate experience.
- Maintain records in viRecruit and Workday, updating as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
- 2+ years of corporate recruiting experience in a law firm or professional services (strongly preferred).
- Experience or familiarity with European employment contracts, offer letters, transcript requirements, and other European-specific hiring procedures (plus).
- Outstanding organizational skills, with strong written and verbal communication.
- Critical thinking skills and knowledge of the attorney recruiting process and legal employment issues.
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage multiple duties across time zones and offices under time constraints.
- Understanding of unconscious bias and its impact on recruiting and hiring.
- Excellent interpersonal skills working with multiple levels of firm personnel and external candidates.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, planning, and organizational skills.
- High motivation and creativity, with the ability to make sound business decisions.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion.
- Proficiency with MS Office and applicant tracking systems, preferably Workday and LawCruit/viRecruit.

Compensation and Location
This full-time business professional role is based in New York, NY and Washington, D.C. with a hybrid work schedule.
- New York: $29.83 – $40.36 per hour
- Washington, D.C.: $26.97 – $36.49 per hour
