Job summary

City of Covington in Kentucky is seeking experienced Lateral Police Officers to join the Covington Police Department. You will leverage your law enforcement background to maintain public safety, protect life and property, prevent crime, and ensure the safety of all citizens through patrol, investigations, and enforcement duties.

Qualified candidates must be KLEC certified or eligible, meet minimum requirements, and pass departmental evaluations.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and ability to read/write English.
• Associate Degree or equivalent, or two years of continuous active military service or law enforcement experience, or two years of established work history.
• KLEC Certification must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and ensure public safety through various means.
• Investigate accidents, crimes, and incidents; gather evidence and interview witnesses.
• Enforce laws, issue citations, and participate in court testimony when needed.
• Engage with the community to build trust and resolve safety concerns.
• Respond to emergencies and manage physical demands of the role.
