Job summary

The City of Lake Forest Park is accepting lateral applications for Police Officer. As a Patrol Officer, you will protect lives and property, respond to emergencies, and enforce state laws and city ordinances within Lake Forest Park.

You will work 12-hour shifts on a 3 on/3 off rotation, with comprehensive benefits including retirement options, education pay, bilingual pay, and generous leave, supported by a strong community.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident.
• At least 21 years of age by certification date of eligibility list.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State of Washington Driver's License by date of hire.
• Driving record free of significant moving violations.
• Personal record free of crimes involving moral character as stated in Civil Service regulations.
• Successful completion of oral, psychological and polygraph tests as prescribed by the Police Civil Service Commission.
• Possession of or ability to obtain Basic Law Enforcement School Certificate issued by the State of Washington CJTC.
• Ability to satisfactory complete field training.

Responsibilities

• Patrols the city to preserve law and order, enforce traffic regulations.
• Provides assistance to citizens in critical or emergency situations.
• Preserves and controls crime scenes; assists in initial investigations.
• Enforces criminal, traffic and parking laws; investigates activity and violations; issues citations.
• Operates speed measurement devices and checks databases for stolen/wanted statuses.
• Directs traffic during emergencies or public events; assists in crowd control as needed.
• Responds to emergency calls and reports; documents incidents for investigations and court use.
• Provides court testimony and uses department equipment in line with policies.
