Job summary

City of Richland's Police Department seeks qualified lateral candidates for full-time police officer positions. Under supervision you will protect lives and property, respond to emergencies, and enforce laws and department policies.

Incumbents may rotate assignments and receive 12-hour shifts with overtime as required. Relocation benefits up to $5,000 and 80 hours of banked vacation time are provided after probation completion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Submit online application with resume, POST certification, and updated PHS in PDF.
• Two years continuous full-time commissioned law enforcement experience.
• Washington state candidates must graduate BLEA or approved basic academy.
• Out-of-state candidates must obtain WA certification within probation.

Responsibilities

• Perform police protection and other services to safeguard lives and property.
• Respond to crime scenes, emergencies, and requests for assistance.
• Detect, apprehend, and arrest criminals; enforce laws and ordinances.
• Work Rotational assignments; 12-hour shifts; overtime as required.

Skills

Two years of law enforcement

Bi-Lingual a plus

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

POST certification

Washington Basic Law Enforcement Academy or equivalent

Law Enforcement Equivalency Academy (out-of-state)
