Job summary

The City of Richland is seeking a dedicated Police Officer to join our community‑oriented police team. Under supervision you will perform protective duties, respond to emergencies, investigate incidents and enforce laws to safeguard lives and property.

Candidates must meet the hiring standards, pass the initial written and physical agility exams, submit an online application with a resume, and obtain a Washington Basic Law Enforcement Certificate within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Completion of the initial written and physical agility exams per PST.
• Submit an online application with a current resume.
• Complete/update Personal History Statement (PHS) on your PST Profile.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Washington State driver's license by hire date.
• Twenty-one years of age at time of application.
• U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient.
• Obtain Basic Law Enforcement Certificate within six months of hire.
• Complete field training during probation.

Responsibilities

• Protect lives and property through patrols and response to incidents.
• Respond to crime and accident scenes and enforce laws.
• Interact with the public while upholding safety and constitutional rights.
• Intervene in high‑risk situations and coordinate with responders.
