Job summary

The Riverside Police Department is seeking experienced Police Officers for lateral transfer. Candidates must be currently employed as a peace officer and hold a California POST Basic Certificate or higher.

Officers perform patrol, investigations, traffic enforcement, and related duties, with four ten-hour workdays. A rigorous selection process includes background checks, medical, polygraph, and fitness evaluations, and benefits from POST-related pay incentives.

Qualifications

• Must be currently employed as a sworn Peace Officer and possess a California POST Basic Certificate or higher.
• California POST Academy completion is required for lateral entry.
• Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, days, swing and graveyard shifts.

Responsibilities

• Patrol city in radio car, on motorcycle, or on foot; enforce laws and protect life and property.
• Make arrests, interview victims and witnesses, interrogate suspects, and prepare reports.
• Maintain contact with citizens and cooperate with other law enforcement agencies.
