Job summary

City of Placentia is recruiting for the Police Officer (Lateral) position. Competitive pay, POST certification pay, and accelerated leave accrual rates are offered upon hire.

Under the direction of the Police Sergeant, officers patrol an assigned area, enforce laws, respond to emergencies, and carry out investigations and other duties as assigned. Lateral officers may be assigned to motor, traffic, K-9, detective, SWAT, and field training details as needed.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to deter crime and maintain order.
• Enforce federal, state, county, and city laws and ordinances related to public safety.
• Respond to emergencies, calls for service, and incidents requiring police response.
• Conduct investigations, collect statements, and assist in case preparation for court.
• Participate in ongoing trainings, briefings, and specialized assignments as needed.
