Job summary

Liberty County is hiring a Lateral Firefighter for the Fire Rescue Department. The role requires prior career fire department experience and current employment in good standing.

The position begins with a 1–2 week training evaluation in the Training Division, followed by assignment to an Operations Division station on a 48/96 shift. Responsibilities include responding to fires, medical incidents, HazMat, and other calls, plus equipment maintenance and public safety education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Firefighter I certification and state requirements may apply as listed in the job desc.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
• Performs firefighting duties including suppression, containment and extinguishment.
• Provides emergency medical care within scope of practice.
• Maintains and inspects equipment for readiness.
• Provides fire prevention information to the public.
• Enters data into computer programs for reporting and inventory.
• Operates department vehicles in various modes.
