Our dispatch center provides services for City police and fire, EMS, and fire agencies in Josephine County.

This recruitment is for dispatchers with experience in dispatching police, fire or medical disciplines and certified as a dispatcher.

Lateral Incentives Available

  • Step at hire: Based on years worked as a certified, full-time dispatcher. Please inquire with Human Resources for more information at: humanresources@grantspassoregon.gov or 541-450-6050.
Minimum Qualifications:

A lateral dispatcher will possess at least one year of full time qualified dispatching experience in the discipline of police, fire or emergency medical dispatching and must have certification from Oregon DPSST or certification in another state with reciprocity. To qualify as a lateral Dispatcher experience must be with a municipal government, county or state agency.

Licensing Requirements:

  1. Law Enforcement Data System Certificate within 60 days of appointment
  2. First Aid/CPR Certificate within one year of appointment
  3. Basic Telecommunications Certificate within one year of appointment
  4. Emergency Medical Dispatch Certificate within one year of appointment
  5. Certification of 40 words per minute with a minimum 95% accuracy keyboarding skills
