Job summary

Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office seeks an Entry Deputy Sheriff (Lateral Entry). This full-time, safety-sensitiv e position requires current Maryland law enforcement certification and at least 1 year of experience, with re-certification as needed.

Duties include serving warrants, court security, transporting prisoners, and interfacing with courts. Eligible candidates can receive a $10,000 signing bonus distributed across milestones, with conditions regarding service duration.

Qualifications

• Must be sworn Law Enforcement Officer
• Maryland MPCTC certification required
• Must have at least 1 year of law enforcement experience and be separated in good standing from a full-service agency within 2 years or less by posting close date
• Must meet MPCTC re-certification requirements and firearms standards

Responsibilities

• Serve arrest warrants, civil and criminal documents, and court papers
• Maintain courtroom decorum and security of prisoners
• Transport and custody of prisoners and extradition as required by court orders
• Provide testimony in courts of law and ensure court ordered protection
• Operate a county radio in a patrol vehicle and perform traffic control duties
• May back-up other law enforcement units and assist local, state, or federal agencies in high-risk situations
