Job summary

Washington County Sheriff's Office in Utah is hiring for a Lateral Certified Corrections Deputy. The role covers a broad range of jail operations, including safety, supervision of inmates, booking and release, and coordinating inmate programs. The position requires POST-certified BCO experience and a valid Utah driver’s license.

Hours are varied with shifts including nights, holidays and weekends. The starting pay ranges hourly, with a track toward additional bonuses and lifetime benefits

Performs a wide range of working level professional law enforcement duties related to operating the Washington County Jail including safety, supervision, booking, release, and inmate programs.

Hours: Various/ Shift work to include holidays, nights and weekends.

Full Time Benefits / Lateral Starting Pay $31.21 to $44.77 per hour DOE

Minimum Qualifications And Conditions

• Graduation from High School or GED.
• Valid Utah Driver's License
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• A candidate must have at least 1 year of previous corrections officer experience as a Utah POST-certified BCO and either be currently working with a corrections facility in this capacity or have been employed in this capacity within 12 months prior to the date of application with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
• Out of State POST BCO / Corrections certified officers are encouraged to apply but must contact Utah POST to ensure applicant is eligible to challenge the Utah BCO certification process to receive Utah POST BCO certification. Washington County Sheriff's Office will not move forward in the application process until the applicant has obtained the necessary Utah POST BCO Certification.
• Candidates must successfully complete all stages of the Washington County Sheriff's Office testing process. Testing stages include, but are not limited to: Physical Agility Test at POST BCO Entrance Standard, Background Investigation, Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA), Interview, and Chemical Screening.
