Job summary

Volusia Sheriff's Office is seeking a Latent Print Examiner Trainee to perform progressively technical work in the classification, collection, and comparison of latent fingerprints. Under supervision, you will learn fingerprint patterns and operate BIS/NGI systems, handling duties related to fingerprint processing for various identifications.

You will also file and maintain fingerprint records, query multiple databases, respond to information requests, and uphold customer service standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's level experience degree or higher is not required; associate’s degree acceptable.
• Experience in fingerprint analysis preferred but not required.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
• Candidates must obtain IAI Latent Print Examiner certification within 18 months of eligibility and maintain it as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Compare latent fingerprints with records on file.
• Prepare written reports stating findings.
• Provide sworn testimony on fingerprint comparisons.
• Maintain chain of custody of evidence.
• Print individuals as needed.
• Perform clerical and record-keeping duties with minimal supervision.
• Process evidence for latent fingerprints.
• Be available to work regularly and relocate as needed.
• Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
