Job summary

City of New Orleans is seeking a first level technical latent print examiner in forensic science to analyze friction ridge evidence, perform pattern and impression examinations, and prepare reports. Responsibilities include entering prints into AFIS, providing courtroom testimony when required, and maintaining ISO17025 accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Forensics, Criminal Justice, Evidence Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or closely related field, AND one year of experience performing latent print examinations.
• Or an Associate’s Degree with major in Forensics, Criminal Justice, Evidence Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or closely related field; AND at least two years of experience performing latent print examinations.
• Or a High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience performing latent print examinations.
• Or Certification as a Latent Print Examiner through the International Association of Identification (IAI).

Responsibilities

• Perform forensic examination in the area of pattern and impression evidence including latent print analysis on physical evidence.
• Compare friction ridge skin impressions.
• Write reports of findings and enter prints into AFIS.
• Provide courtroom testimony as needed; and related work as required.
