Job summary

The Forensic Latent Print Specialist position with Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Unit focuses on friction ridge examinations, photography, and crime scene investigations to identify offenders through physical evidence.

Qualifications

• Citizen or eligible for permanent residency; English proficiency (speaking, reading, writing).
• Minimum age 21 at time of application.
• Bachelor’s degree in forensic/natural/criminal justice or related field, or current law enforcement employee with CJ knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform friction ridge examinations and run national/international databases.
• Process and document crime scenes, take photographs, collect and preserve evidence.
• Recognize evidentiary value of tools, ballistics, soils, DNA, fibers, etc.
• Photograph latent fingerprints and process evidence for analysis.
• Attend autopsies and photograph phases for court purposes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and generate reports; provide court testimony.
