Job summary

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is seeking an experienced Forensic Scientist III specializing in latent prints. The role uses chemical, microscopic, chromatographic and comparative methods to examine evidence, prepare reports, and provide expert court testimony. Supervision is from a Supervising Forensic Scientist.

This recruitment will establish an eighteen-month eligibility list to fill statewide current and future vacancies across Arizona.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or chemistry with chemistry coursework
• Minimum seven years as a forensic scientist in a recognized crime laboratory
• Competency in at least one forensic discipline
• Court or professional presentation experience applicable to forensics
• Performance criteria include an overall rating of at least "Standard" in the last 12 months

Responsibilities

• Examine, identify and evaluate physical evidence using chemical, microscopic, chromatographic and comparative techniques
• Prepare technical reports and provide expert testimony in court
• Provide technical advice and train other forensic scientists
• Recommend revisions to analytical methodology and equipment purchases
