Job summary

Primary responsibilities include referencing & retrieving master programs for new jobs, setting up and utilizing CNC programs to control platform and movement, downloading programs into applicable controllers, and operating various computer numeric controlled (CNC) production equipment within the YAG/Metals Department.

Summary of essential job functions

• Operate Nd YAG lasers and use shield gases (Argon, Helium, Nitrogen) to prevent visual discoloration when necessary.
• Use process parameters in welding, such as “pulse width” or “width,” “frequency” or “rate,” and “PFN” or “height.”
• Understand different materials for welding, including stainless steel, carbon steel, titanium, and aluminum.
• Set up jobs and determine required fixtures.
• Follow established policies and procedures to ensure proper steps are followed, enabling passing of 1st and 2nd piece inspections.
• Adhere to safety precautions when using YAG-based machines, follow quality procedures, and coordinate issues with supervisors, managers, sales, and QA.
• Work flexibly on different products continuously.
• Operate with minimal supervision.

Minimum requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Proficiency in reading “G” Code and setting up CNC machines.
• Experience with microscope work, including light source inspections and alignments.
• Ability to use measuring devices such as Verniers, Pin Gages, and CMM.
• Experience operating CNC laser machines.
• Understanding of process parameters and programming knowledge.
• Follow guidelines for handling welded parts to prevent contamination and damage.
• Experience with manufacturing or job tracking software.
• Effective time management skills.
• Professional demeanor.

Physical Demands

The role may require standing, walking, and lifting or moving up to 30 pounds. Visual requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as focus adjustment. The work environment may expose the employee to fumes or airborne particles, with moderate noise levels.
