Job summary

Automatic Data Processing, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Machine Operator to operate laser cutting and other fabrication equipment to produce steel parts. You will follow blueprints, set up tooling, monitor quality, and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Requires 0-2 years manufacturing experience, basic math and reading of blueprints, and ability to read a tape measure. Training provided; union/benefits may apply.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience; prior manufacturing experience preferred.
• Prior experience and/or training operating drill press, saw, shear, press brake and/or CNC equipment preferred.
• Basic computer skills required; familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Good math skills; perform basic arithmetic with various units.
• Ability to read a tape measure up to 1/32”.
• Experience with hand tools including power tools such as impact drivers and drills.
• Laser: Prior experience operating laser cutting equipment preferred; CNC operation/programming a plus.
• Prior thermal cutting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Measur es, marks, and scribes dimensions and references on material as guides.
• Start and observe machine operation; adjust controls for speed, feed, coolant, cut depth.
• Verify conformance/quality of finished work to specifications.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and internal customers.
• Load tooling, bits, blades and consumables on machines such as mills, lathes, drills, brakes and lasers.
