Job description

Setup and operate laser marking equipment to perform daily laser marking on product to produce a quality product per print.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Setup and operate laser marking equipment to perform laser marking process, producing a quality product that meets print and customer specifications.
  • Setup and operate all laser marking processes to prove out programs and processes and adjust as required.
  • Optimize setups and processes to maximize productivity, safety, quality and to eliminate scrap. Implement continuous improvement ideas in these areas.
  • Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency.
  • Maintain work flow, job packets, routers and quality product for all laser marking processes.
  • Set controls to regulate processing or enter commands to retrieve input or edit laser equipment media.
  • Select appropriate tools and materials to be used in these manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor laser operations and control panel displays and compare readings to specifications to detect problems.
  • Process and complete workload based on production deadlines.
  • Preventative maintenance of laser equipment.
  • Perform part inspection and measure dimensions of in process and finished workpieces to ensure conformance to print specifications, using precision measuring instruments, optical comparator, CMM or vision machines, along with templates and fixtures.
  • Communicate with Programmer, manufacturing, engineering and management personnel to exchange pertinent information to analyze and problem solve issues.
  • Meet and maintain established standards for scrap and indirect labor.
  • Meet and maintain established production efficiency and effectiveness standards for running production and setting up laser equipment.
  • Ensure proper and complete documentation off all production data in ERP system and the equipment’s software.
  • Maintain all documents required for order processing.
  • Complete all documentation per ISO 13485 and FDA requirements.
  • Assist with preventative and corrective actions pertaining to the laser processes and product.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in the setup and operation of laser equipment.
  • Experience is ISO/FDA environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and hold tight tolerances.
  • Proficient in the use of all machine shop precision measuring equipment including micrometer, caliper, optical compactor and vision machines.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control.
  • Ability to be highly accurate with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve manufacturing issues.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions.
  • Ability to repeat the same physical and mental activities over and over.
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, handle stressful situations, multitask and ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as autonomously.
  • Sound understanding of the principles of the various products.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively, professionally and constructively.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Includes exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Work environment is temperature controlled.
