Job description

We are seeking a skilled Laser Welding Machine Operator and Programmer to manage the setup, operation, and programming of TRUMPF laser welding systems. You will play a critical role in producing high-quality components for security systems, detention locks, and other engineered solutions for correctional facilities. By collaborating with the Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams, you will help boost production efficiency, ensure weld repeatability, and maximize equipment performance. Given the nature of our products, maintaining strict dimensional accuracy and weld integrity is vital to supporting the safety and security of our facilities.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the full cycle of programming, configuring, and operating TRUMPF laser welding machinery.
  • Create, refine, and maintain machine programs using specialized TRUMPF software to ensure optimal performance.
  • Analyze SolidWorks models and technical drawings to identify necessary weld specifications, part positioning, and fixture requirements.
  • Utilize CAD data to streamline the development of laser welding processes and production workflows.
  • Define essential process parameters, including weld sequences, power settings, focal positions, and shielding-gas requirements.
  • Perform thorough program testing and first-piece inspections to ensure production readiness.
  • Handle the loading, precise alignment, and removal of components from the welding system to maintain a smooth workflow.
  • Confirm that all materials, fixtures, and programs align with current work orders and engineering revisions to support team accuracy.
  • Validate joint fit-up, clamping, and fixture alignment to help ensure consistent, high-quality weld outcomes for every cycle.

Technical Duties

  • Develop and refine laser welding programs for both new and existing product lines.
  • Leverage TRUMPF software to establish precise weld paths, operating sequences, and process parameters.
  • Navigate and interpret complex parts, assemblies, and manufacturing prints within SolidWorks.
  • Design or adjust basic SolidWorks models and fixture concepts as authorized to improve production capabilities.
  • Assess CAD geometry to identify potential manufacturing challenges, such as distortion, access issues, or tolerance concerns.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven background in programming and running TRUMPF laser welding systems or similar CNC-controlled industrial laser equipment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with TRUMPF programming software or equivalent offline laser-processing systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, with the ability to measure and interpret 3D models and engineering documentation.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in programming, setting up, or operating automated manufacturing equipment like CNC laser or robotic welding systems.
  • Hands-on technical experience with TRUMPF laser welding equipment or comparable industrial systems.
  • Practical experience using SolidWorks to analyze 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings.
  • Ability to interpret engineering prints, weld symbols, and dimensional tolerances.
  • Experience utilizing precision measuring tools to inspect welded or fabricated components.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $35. Our team members enjoy weekly pay, access to health insurance, and opportunities for performance-based incentives and bonuses. We also provide referral bonuses and offer temp-to-hire paths that support long-term career growth.

We’re constantly adding fresh industrial positions from Atlanta’s top employers.
