Job summary

Confluent Medical Technologies seeks a Process Development Engineer to drive through-process development, DOE-based optimization, validation, and manufacturing transfer of medical device production processes. You will optimize surface processes, analyze data, and collaborate with operators, engineers, and quality teams to ensure products meet stringent specifications.

A Bachelor's degree in Materials, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Advance surface processes such as microblasting, chemical etching, polishing, cleaning, and quality standards.
• Apply DOE and statistical analysis to characterize processes and drive improvements.
• Support root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate across operators, technicians, engineers, quality and manufacturing teams.
• Create and maintain process documentation and training materials.

Salary Range: $103,900.00 - $173,100.00

Responsibilities

• Work as part of Confluent’s multifunctional Process Development Team responsible for through process development, optimization, validation, and manufacturing transfer of medical device production processes.
• Develop and optimize robust surface processes including microblasting, chemical etching, chemical polishing, electropolishing, cleaning and surface quality standards.
• Use statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE) to characterize processes, identify key parameters, optimize performance, and support data driven decisions.
• Perform and support root cause investigations for process and product issues and drive appropriate corrective actions.
• Analyze process and product data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Transfer developed processes to manufacturing sites, including documentation, training, validation support, and troubleshooting during implementation.
• Collaborate with operators, technicians, engineers, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure processes meet product and customer requirements.
• Create and maintain work instructions, visual standards, engineering studies, drawings, and other manufacturing documentation.
• Support process validation and continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving principles.
• Manage multiple technical priorities and independently drive assigned work to completion.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Materials, Biomedical or Chemical Engineering, or related discipline and a minimum of 5 years relevant engineering experience.
• Proficient in MS Word and Excel.
• Experience with Minitab or JMP desirable.
