Job summary

Ottenweller Company in Mount Airy, NC seeks a Laser Operator on 1st shift to support setup and operation of laser cutting machinery. The role includes loading materials, unloading finished parts, moving items between operations, and monitoring equipment for proper function.

The candidate will assist with first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers and tape measures against blueprints, and support punch press tasks as needed in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–6 months CNC machine operation experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up machines by loading material onto the worktable using forklift and/or overhead crane.
• Unload processed parts and part skeleton; place finished parts in baskets.
• Move material and parts to the next operation as designated on the router.
• Monitor machine visually and audibly to ensure proper operation and, with assistance, activate controls to cut the workpiece.
• Assist in inspecting first-piece and in-process parts using calipers and tape measure against blueprints; complete inspection form if required.
• Assist in operating punch press machines as needed.
