Job summary

Qualifications

• Basic reading and writing in English to read instructions, tickets, safety, and policy manuals.
• Basic measuring skills to read and convert English and Metric systems.
• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows software (loading design to be burned).
• Minimum one year experience operating burning machinery or as machine operator helper.
• Experience operating overhead crane.

Responsibilities

• Selects correct material for burning job based on work order.
• Sets up machine track, burning tip, gas flow, and feed rates.
• Positions work pieces for processing; may operate multiple machines.
• Uses gauges and rulers for measurement and tolerances.
• Reviews blueprints and work orders for specifications.
• Sets up material fixtures and aligns in machine bed.
• Adjusts controls for depth and feed rates.
• Performs quality inspections and in-process inspections.
• Coordinates material handling and overhead crane operations.
• Completes paperwork and restocks materials.
• May mark identification on material before processing.

Job description

• Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination
• Candidate must pass a pre employment drug screening.

Physical Demands

Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)

• Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
• Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance

• Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)

Laser Operator - 1st Shift

Metals USA has an immediate opening for a Laser Operator in the Tulsa, OK location. The Laser Operator performs advanced production activities on variety of burning machines.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Chooses correct material for the burning job according to work order
• Sets up machine track, selects proper burning tip, sets gas flow and machine feed rates
• Positions work pieces for processing (may operate a combination of different machines)
• Uses gauges, calipers, squares or rulers for measurement
• Determines processing specifications such as materials, burning tips, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances and operational sequences
• Reviews blueprints, work orders, tooling instructions or other written specifications
• Sets up and aligns specified material or other fixtures in machine bed using gauges, templates, shims or hand tools
• Adjusts controls to set depth and feed rates
• Performs quality control inspections on finished product; for ISO-certified locations, performs In Process Quality Inspections
• Diagnose problems and makes necessary adjustments and removes scrap from machine
• Coordinates and executes material handling to be processed including operation of overhead crane
• Completes work order paperwork/documentation
• Restocks material
• May mark identification on material/work pieces before processing
• May mark material after processing; store material for additional processing and/or shipping
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
