EK Machine in Wisconsin is seeking a Laser Cutting Operator to read blueprints, set up and operate a computer-controlled laser cutting machine, and inspect parts with precision equipment.

You will perform routine maintenance, document inspection data, and keep the work area organized. Strong attention to detail and basic math are essential for accuracy and safety. This role requires ability to interpret specifications and adjust settings for different materials.

Qualifications

  • Education as certificate or 1-3 years related experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a computer controlled laser cutting machine.
  • Read blueprints, determine gas type, nozzle size, and focus.
  • Set up, adjust, and run the laser system; make adjustments as needed.
  • Create inspection sheets and document inspection data.
  • Inspect parts with precision measuring equipment.
  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance on laser equipment.
  • Keep work area clean and organized; program using priority dispatch.

Job description

Operates laser cutting machine by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reads and interprets blueprints
  • Determines gas type, nozzle size, and focus of lens based on material type and thickness.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates a computer controlled laser cutting machine.
  • Makes adjustments as needed.
  • Creates inspection sheets.
  • Inspects parts using precision measuring equipment and documents inspection data.
  • Performs daily and weekly maintenance as it relates to laser cutting equipment.
  • Programs using priority dispatch.
  • Cleans and organizes work area.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; 1-3 years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos, as well as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
