Job summary

Demco Mfg is seeking a laser operator to support our fabrication department. The role focuses on running laser equipment and assisting in related fabrication tasks. Reading measuring tools and basic computer use are required, with experience preferred but not necessary.

We offer a sign-on bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. Hours are Monday through Thursday 6am to 4:30pm, with Fridays as needed. This on-site position emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork within a manufacturing

Qualifications

• Ability to read and use measuring tools accurately.
• Basic computer knowledge for data entry and shop order tracking.
• Experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Program the laser to cut, bend and press parts according to prints.
• Load steel onto machinery with proper equipment.
• Unload finished parts and stack by size and material.
• Enter recorded data into the computer accurately.
• Arrange parts to minimize waste using shop software.
• Read shop orders, customer orders, and engineers' drawings.
• Operate forklift, hoist, and crane following procedures.
• Attend required safety training.
• Maintain accurate records and follow procedures.
• Mentor and train other employees.
• Complete jobs on time and work independently as needed.
• Collaborate with team and seek process improvements.
• Meet production goals and maintain a safe environment.

Description

Demco is seeking a laser operator to work in our fabrication department. This position will focus on running our lasers, as well as assisting in other areas of the Fabrication department. Experience is preferred, but not required. Qualified candidates must be able to read and use measuring tools accurately and have computer knowledge. Demco provides a competitive compensation & benefits package that takes into account your skills, and expertise.

Hours are Monday - Thursday 6am-4:30pm and Fridays as needed.

Requirements

Primary Duties:

• Program the machinery/laser to cut, bend and press parts according to print
• Load steel onto the machinery/laser using the proper equipment
• Unload the finished parts and stack according to size, shape and material
• Enter recorded data into the computer accurately
• Use computer software to arrange parts to be cut into the smallest possible area to maximize material usage
• Able to find, print and understand shop orders, customer orders and engineers' drawings
• Able to use a forklift, hoist, and crane and know the correct procedures to operate each
• Attend all required safety training
• Conscientious of following procedures and keeping accurate records
• Mentor and train other employees
• Complete jobs on a timely and consistent basis
• Work as a team and be self motivated to work independently
• Actively look for new and improved ways to do things
• Meet reasonable production goals
• Maintain a safe working environment
