Job summary

AMETEK in Indiana is seeking a Laser Operator to manage the laser and computer, verify work orders, read blueprints, and inspect products to blueprint specifications. You will document all work, label products, and may set up the laser or assist in other production areas after demonstrating competency.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with basic computer experience preferred. Ability to read blueprints and follow procedures is essential for this role in a production environment

  • Operate laser and inspect product to blueprint specifications.
  • Verify work order information and product identity.
  • Read and understand blueprints and schedules.
  • Document and record all work in the work cell.
  • Label and identify product in/out of the work cell.
  • May operate vision system for laser scale verification.
  • Perform and document Operator Preventive Maintenance as needed.

Summary Of Position

Responsible for the operation of the laser and computer.

Essential Functions
  • Obtain and apply information from Work Instruction File/Travelers.
  • Verify work order information.
  • Verify product identity.
  • Visually inspect product for cosmetic defects.
  • Read and understand blueprints.
  • Verify lot codes to customer specifications.
  • Laser and inspect product to blueprint specifications.
  • Understand and follow policy and procedures.
  • Document and record all work done in work cell. Follow Process Information Sheets.
  • Utilize and complete documents.
  • Prepare product for transfer to next work cell.
  • Label and identify product in/out of work cell.
  • May operate vision system for laser scale verification.
  • Perform and document Operator Preventive Maintenance operations, as needed.
Occasional Duties
  • May set up laser and computer as necessary.
  • Assist in other areas of production, as needed.
  • Once employee demonstrates competency in position, may be required to train others in similar roles.
Experience / Education
  • High School Graduate, or equivalent. Computer experience preferred.
Skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and familiarization with schedules.

  • Work environment: Work performed in a production environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high, in some areas.
Compensation

Employee Type: Hourly

Salary Minimum: 40,000

Salary Maximum: 50,000
