Job summary

Westmor Industries is seeking a Laser Nesting Software Technician in Minnesota to optimize nesting layouts and translate CAD data into CNC laser programs. You will monitor material use and scrap, ensuring products meet quality standards while collaborating with floor staff and engineers.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Nest parts on raw metal sheets using specialized software to optimize layouts.
• Translate blueprints and CAD data into CNC programs for laser machines.
• Track material yields and manage leftover scrap and inventory.
• Ensure orders are completed on schedule and meet quality standards.
• Collaborate with floor operators, team lead and engineers to resolve issues.
• Understand material types and thicknesses (steel, aluminum, etc.).
• Perform daily preventive maintenance and keep a clean, safe workspace.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

A Laser Nesting Software Technician is responsible for the following duties:

• Nesting Optimization: Utilize specialized software (such as Dr. Abe, Abe Planner and ProNest) to lay out part geometries on raw metal sheets.
• Programming: Translate engineering blueprints and CAD files into operational CNC programs for the laser machine.
• Material Management: Keep track of material yields, efficiently group different-sized parts, and manage leftover scrap and raw material inventory.
• Quality : Ensure job orders are completed on schedule and production meets quality standards.
• Collaboration: Work with floor operators, team lead, and engineers to prioritize jobs and resolve manufacturing issues.
• Material Knowledge: Understanding of different material types (steel, aluminum, etc.), and thicknesses
• Preventive Maintenance: Perform daily preventative maintenance and maintain housekeeping standards.
• Other duties as assigned

Compensation:

The starting pay range for this position is $18-$22 per hour. Final compensation will depend on various factors including: skills, experience, and location.
