Job summary

Autokiniton is seeking a dedicated engineering professional to align laser department equipment with production requirements, targeting minimal downtime and an OA of 95%. The role focuses on capital equipment projects, laser optimization, and adherence to MIOSHA.

You will train staff and ensure readiness for new technology adoption. Responsibilities include defining project scope, managing timing and costs, and coordinating with management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years plus related experience and/or training, or equivalent.
  • Experience with QMS and QAD databases and basic metrology tools.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees projects on new equipment in Laser Department.
  • Defines project scope, timing and performance cost.
  • Gives direction and approves revisions to project scope and timing.
  • Interfaces projects to other management staff and ensures Buyoff at tool shop.
  • Completes SPC charts and supports process improvements to reduce scrap.
  • Trains technicians and maintenance on proper troubleshooting.
  • Keeps up to date on laser technology and educates staff.
  • Contributes ideas to improve plant competitiveness.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position responsibility is specific to ensuring that the engineered process and equipment is aligned to the production requirements ensuring the least amount of machine downtime is achieved targeting an OA of 95%

JOB TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.

Capital Equipment
  • Oversees projects on new equipment in Laser Department.
  • Defines project in regards to timing and performance cost.
  • Gives direction and approves revisions to project scope and/or timing.
  • Interfaces/introduces projects to other management staff.
Laser Optimization
  • Defines project in regards to timing and performance cost.
  • Gives direction and approval for revisions to project scrap and timing.
  • Interfaces and introduces projects to other management staff.
  • Responsible for Buyoff at tool shop of laser fixtures and programs.
  • Complete SPC (Statistical Process Control) charts as needed.
  • Provides direction to production technical support to improve production processes to reduce scrap or costs.
  • Trains technicians and maintenance personnel on proper trouble shooting process.
  • Eliminate quality spills from lasers.
  • Keeps "up to date" on new technology available in the market and educate personnel on it's use.
  • Creates and proposes new ideas on making the plant more competitive in the market.
Other
  • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.)
  • Able and willing to work any shift assigned, weekends and overtime
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Assumes other duties as directed by supervisor
  • Responsible for reading and understanding the TS16949 and ISO-14001 procedures
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical Skills

Ability to work with the following software packages or programs:

  • Microsoft Office at an intermediate level
  • Microsoft Project at a beginning level
  • Effective email and electronic communication skills are required
Ability to work with the following data base programs and/or hardware:
  • QMS database at an intermediate level
  • QAD database at an intermediate level
Ability to work with the following tools or machinery
  • Micrometers
  • Calipers
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Duties include but are not limited to stand, walk, twist, bend, lift, see, talk and hear, with the ability to work in a manufacturing environment. At plant site locations, employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration or hazardous materials.
