Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, Massachusetts is offering a Summer Intern position in the Laser Communications Group. The intern will own a technical project within a prototype build program and contribute to software development, embedded systems, control systems, fiber optics, and data analysis.

This SRP internship provides mentorship, workshops, tech talks, and networking opportunities, with internships typically lasting 10–12 weeks and housing support for eligible non-local interns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master’s or Doctorate in Computer/EE/Math/Physics or related field.
  • Experience in fiber optic/photonics lab environment.
  • Ability to learn new technical areas and explain solutions to engineers.
  • Proficiency with embedded systems, control, digital and analog design or C/C++, Python.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a Lasercom prototype build program and own a technical project.
  • Contribute across software development, embedded systems, control systems, fiber optics, photonics, and data analysis.
  • Communicate results to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
