MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, Massachusetts invites applications for a Laser Communications Intern (Summer 2027) in Group 66. The Intern will contribute to a prototype build program and own a technical project to be completed and presented by the end of the internship.

Work may include software development, embedded systems, control systems, fiber optics, or data analysis. Qualified candidates are enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate program in a related field, with laboratory

Qualifications

• Candidate pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• Experience in a fiber optic/photonics laboratory environment.
• Ability to quickly learn new technical areas and apply knowledge to mission problems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain solutions to engineers from other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a laser communications prototype build program and own a technical project to be completed and presented by internship end.
• Work on software development, embedded systems, control systems, fiber optics/photonics, and data analysis as needed.
• Collaborate with team members across disciplines to meet program goals.
