Job description

Lead level role that investigates and maintains highly complex property claims. Determine liability, secure information, review coverages, arrange appraisals, and settle claims. Demonstrate experience to perform all areas of claim adjustment activities with the highest degree of competency and independence. You will work in the field and handle complex homeowner property field claims. You will preferably be located anywhere in the state of WA. A fleet vehicle is provided with the position. You will report to a Large Loss Senior Manager. In this primarily field-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working in the field, directly interacting with customers. On occasion, you may be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training, and culture events.

Position Compensation Range:

$86,000.00 - $142,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  1. Investigate the origin and cause of high exposure claims by contacting appropriate parties including insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, experts, the special investigation unit, other adjusters, public personnel, etc. Check for prior claims and recognize environmental exposures.
  2. Participate in High Damage Reviews (HDR) to address coverage issues and exposure. Handle claims on a good faith basis.
  3. Handle both 1st party and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
  4. Conduct on-site inspections when needed, evaluate damages, and handle claim negotiations with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
  5. Respond to customer inquiries, make appropriate decisions, and close files as needed.
  6. Interpret and determine policies, leases, by-laws, declarations, articles, and contract coverages and apply to all parties for assigned losses. Interpret claim history coverages.
  7. Make independent decisions but recognize when assistance is needed.
  8. Proactively provide all parties with claim process and status updates; answer questions or redirect as appropriate.
  9. Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for less experienced adjusters.
  10. May be required to complete other assignments, job duties, or participate in projects based on skills, achievements, or experience.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  1. Demonstrated ability to handle 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories.
  2. Experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
  3. Ability to efficiently and effectively handle complex claims.
  4. Extensive knowledge of policies and endorsements coverages.
  5. Successfully applied knowledge of each phase of the claim handling process.

Licenses

  1. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
  2. Obtain state-specific property casualty claims licensing as needed.

Travel Requirements

  1. Up to 50% travel required.
  2. Catastrophe travel up to 75% as applicable.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc. Visits may include higher hazard areas like customer homes or body shops.
  2. Moving in various positions to accomplish tasks in different environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  3. Handling objects up to 50 pounds in all directions.

Working Conditions

  1. Exposure to low and high temperatures.
  2. Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
  3. Noisy environments, hazardous conditions, poor ventilation, and small/enclosed spaces.

Additional Qualifications

  1. Advanced Xactimate experience required.
  2. 5+ years of experience handling field property personal lines claims.
  3. Preferably experienced with claims over $50,000.
