Job summary

Nextek, LLC is a full-spectrum software development firm serving financial services professionals. We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong Laravel experience to own architecture, development, deployment, and ongoing improvements for mission-critical applications.

You will design and implement scalable web apps, backend services, APIs, and modern user interfaces with Laravel, React, and Next.js while collaborating across teams to ensure high quality code, reliability, and security.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong, hands-on experience with Laravel.
• Experience building production web applications using Laravel architecture (routing, controllers, middleware, Eloquent, queues).
• Strong experience with React and/or Next.js.
• Experience designing relational databases (SQL Server/MySQL).
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
• Experience deploying and supporting applications in AWS and/or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications using Laravel.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, business logic, and integrations.
• Develop modern user interfaces using React/Next.js.
• Design and optimize relational databases and queries.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications usingLaravel
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, business logic, and integrations
• Develop modern user interfaces usingReact and Next.js
• Design, implement, and optimize relational database solutions
• Integrate internal systems, third-party services, APIs, and external vendors
• Develop and support software applications used by financial services professionals
• Participate in architecture discussions and technical decision-making
• Troubleshoot complex application, database, and production issues
• Improve application performance, reliability, security, and scalability
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
• Collaborate with other engineers and internal teams to plan and deliver new features
• Communicate directly with end clients and vendors when needed
• Help establish and maintain engineering best practices
• Work independently while contributing to broader team objectives
• Evaluate new technologies and development practices when they can provide meaningful value to the business

What You Bring

Required

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong, hands-on experience with Laravel
• Strong understanding of Laravel architecture, including routing, controllers, middleware, Eloquent ORM, queues, jobs, events, and APIs
• Experience building and maintaining production web applications
• Strong experience withReact and/or Next.js
• Experience designing and working with relational databases
• Experience withSQL Server and/or MySQL
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and third-party integrations
• Experience with.NET / C#
• Experience deploying and supporting applications inAWS and/or Microsoft Azure
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, version control, testing, and code quality

Preferred

• Extensive experience architecting and developing large Laravel applications
• Experience with bothAWS and Azure
• Experience with bothSQL Server and MySQL
• Experience designing and optimizing complex relational databases
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working with background jobs, queues, caching, and asynchronous processing
• Experience with application performance monitoring and optimization
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and enterprise systems
• Experience in financial services, fintech, or other highly regulated industries
