CMI Group in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Lapping (Lap) Machine Operator for our Defense & Aerospace machine shop. The role finishes aircraft components to micro-inch tolerances using lapping, polishing, and honing processes.
You will set up equipment, mix slurries, inspect with micrometers and bore gauges, read drawings or CAD models, and collaborate with QA to optimize cycle times. Requires 40+ hour weeks, ITAR compliance as a U.S.

A Lapping (Lap) Machine Operator in aerospace manufacturing is a precision machinist responsible for finishing metal, ceramic, or composite aircraft components to micro-inch tolerances. Lapping is a surface-finishing process that uses an abrasive slurry to achieve extreme flatness, smoothness, and exact geometric dimensions.
