  • Master’s degree in Biology or medical field from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in relevant coursework from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Chiropractic degree.

Responsibilities

  • Develop program and course outlines, goals and objectives under general supervision.
  • Prepare lesson plans for credited Anatomy & Physiology courses.
  • Evaluate students’ progress toward goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Ensure safety and security requirements in the training area.

POSITION: ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY INSTRUCTOR

REPORTS TO: DEAN OF GENERAL EDUCATION

SALARY: Upper $60’s annually, depending on education, experience, and qualifications

EFFECTIVE: This position is available now

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under general supervision, develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives;
  • Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Anatomy & Physiology courses;
  • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives;
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports;
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area;
  • Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students;
  • Assists with student recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
  • Manages administrative responsibilities related to scheduling, developing syllabi and teaching courses.
  • Other duties as assigned by Dean.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Master’s degree in Biology or medical field with appropriate subject-related coursework from a regionally accredited college or university
  • A Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in appropriate subject-related coursework from a regionally accredited college or university
  • A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Chiropractic degree
  • Must work well in the classroom and in supervising diverse students in a variety of settings.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
  • Ability to work flexible hours – including day and evening hours
  • Ability to teach at any LTC College Campus where Anatomy and Physiology classes are taught
  • Ability to participate in appropriate staff development and campus activities
  • Ability to supervise students in the classroom
  • Ability to develop and evaluate lesson plans, and select appropriate textbooks
  • Ability to direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies
  • Ability to handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching of courses, data collection, and reporting for accreditation agencies, and the College.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fair and unbiased manner, and to maintain a pleasant, professional relationship with students and faculty/staff
  • Skill in the operation of work-related computers
  • Appropriate oral and written communication skills that effectively communicate information to students who might function at the new, beginning, or advanced level
  • Ability to maintain accurate and organized records, and prepare lesson materials
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience teaching in a postsecondary environment
  • Experience teaching via online instruction
  • Bilingual is a plus.
