Job Description

Stoneham Public Schools is seeking an experienced special education teacher with training and expertise in specialized, multisensory, systematic reading instruction (i.e. Wilson, Orton‑Gillingham reading programs) and extensive knowledge of research‑based best practices, methods and instructional materials for writing and math. In addition to providing intensive, specialized instruction to address goals and objectives for students, this special educator will collaborate and consult with classroom teachers, participate in on‑going data team meetings and closely monitor the progress of all students on his/her caseload.

The special educator’s role will also include conducting Academic Evaluations for initial evaluations, and requires knowledge of formal diagnostic assessments and the ability to interpret and analyze results in order to provide oral and written reports.

Reports to Director of Special Education and Building Principal.

Qualifications

• MA license in moderate special needs
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
• Training in specialized reading instructional practices/programs, certification in Wilson Reading/Orton‑Gillingham preferred
• Knowledge and experience in Academic Evaluation process and assessments
• Knowledge and experience in IEP writing, progress monitoring and research‑based best practices for reading, math and writing instruction
• Demonstrated knowledge of research‑based best practices related to accommodations and instructional methods and materials
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive, productive communication with families

Effective July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
