Job summary

Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community in West Columbia, SC is seeking an experienced Landscaping Supervisor to lead the grounds team and maintain the campus grounds, facilities, and equipment.

The role involves hands-on supervision, coordinating contractors, and ensuring safe, efficient lawn care, irrigation, plant care, and seasonal maintenance to create a welcoming environment for residents and guests.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of lawn care, gardening, irrigation, and grounds maintenance practices.
  • Ability to safely operate landscaping machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to identify and care for a variety of plants and ornamentals.
  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Degree or formal education in horticulture preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the daily activities of the grounds crew.
  • Supervise all landscape contractors at Still Hopes
  • Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas throughout the campus.
  • Operate and oversee the proper use of landscaping equipment and mechanical tools.
  • Become familiar with irrigation systems and wells, maintaining them.
  • Perform mowing, pruning, planting, leaf removal, trimming, edging, and general grounds cleanup.
  • Assist with seasonal maintenance, including snow and ice removal from walkways as needed.
  • Maintain grounds-related vehicles, equipment, and tools in a safe and efficient condition.
  • Identify and care for a variety of plant species, trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants.
  • Ensure work areas and equipment are maintained in accordance with safety standards.
  • Work with residents to maintain private garden spaces.
  • Help maintain a clean, attractive, and welcoming campus environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

Compensation starting at: $19.58 - $26.23/hr based on experience.

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Landscaping Supervisor to lead our grounds team and help maintain the beautiful, well-kept campus our residents and guests enjoy.


Position Summary

The Landscaping Supervisor is responsible for supervising and scheduling the grounds crew and overseeing the safe, efficient maintenance of the community’s grounds, facilities, landscaping vehicles, and landscaping equipment. This position works hands-on with the team and participates in all aspects of lawn care, gardening, landscaping, landscape design, and general grounds maintenance.



  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the daily activities of the grounds crew.

  • Supervise all landscape contractors at Still Hopes

  • Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas throughout the campus.

  • Become very familiar with the irrigation systems and wells, maintaining them.

  • Perform and assist with mowing, pruning, planting, leaf removal, trimming, edging, and general grounds cleanup.

  • Assist with seasonal maintenance, including snow and ice removal from walkways as needed.

  • Maintain grounds-related vehicles, equipment, and tools in a safe and efficient condition.

  • Identify and care for a variety of plant species, trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants.

  • Ensure work areas and equipment are maintained in accordance with safety standards.

  • Work hand-in-hand with residents to maintain some private garden spaces

  • Help maintain a clean, attractive, and welcoming campus environment for residents, visitors, and staff.


Qualifications


  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.

  • Strong knowledge of lawn care, gardening, landscaping, irrigation, and grounds maintenance practices.

  • Ability to safely operate landscaping machinery and mechanical equipment.

  • Ability to identify and properly care for a variety of plants and ornamentals.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding outdoor work.

  • Dependable, responsible, and able to work effectively with a team.

  • Verifiable employment history required.

  • Valid South Carolina driver’s license with a minimum three-year safe driving record.

  • Degree or formal education in horticulture is preferred.
