Job summary

CW Resources, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to keep our landscaping fleet running, from John Deere tractors to zero-turn mowers.

This full-time role involves diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a range of equipment used on large-area turf projects. The position requires 3–5 years in heavy equipment or related fields, a valid driver’s license and RealID, and the ability to obtain government base access.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Small Engine Technician.
  • 2–3 years of experience repairing tractors, mowers, trailers, trucks, and small engine equipment.
  • Experience in landscaping, construction, municipal, or agricultural settings.
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices.
  • Valid driver’s license and RealID; ability to obtain government base access.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair John Deere tractors with attachments used for large-area turf maintenance.
  • Service and maintain zero-turn mowers, pickups, trailers, and a water truck.
  • Troubleshoot and repair trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws.
  • Test-operate equipment after repairs to confirm function and safety.
  • Perform welding or fabrication to repair components when needed.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; request replacements as needed.
  • Train crew members on equipment operation and basic maintenance.

Are you a hands-on problem solver who loves working with machines that get the job done? CW is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to keep our landscaping fleet running at full throttle. From John Deere tractors to zero-turn mowers and beyond, you'll be the go-to expert keeping our crews moving and our projects on track.

  • Diagnose and repair John Deere tractors with flex‑wing mower attachments used for large‑area turf maintenance.
  • Service and maintain zero‑turn mowers, pickup trucks, equipment trailers, and a water truck to ensure they’re ready for daily use.
  • Troubleshoot and repair small engine equipment such as trimmers, blowers, and chainsaws.
  • Test‑operate equipment after repairs to confirm proper function and safety.
  • Perform welding or fabrication work to repair or reinforce equipment parts when needed.
  • Manage inventory of tools, parts, and supplies; request replacements as needed.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and securing equipment for transport.
  • Train or guide crew members on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance practices.
  • Stay up to date on manufacturer service updates and technical bulletins.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on all mechanical and motorized landscaping equipment.
  • Maintain accurate service logs documenting repairs and maintenance performed.
  • Coordinate with landscaping crews and supervisors to schedule maintenance with minimal downtime.
  • Ensure all equipment meets company and regulatory safety standards.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Small Engine Technician.
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining tractors, mowers, trailers, trucks, and small engine equipment
  • Experience working in a landscaping, construction, municipal, or agricultural
  • Experience diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and best practices.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid RealID
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain government base access.

Bonus If You Have These Skills:

  • Welding and fabrication skills for custom repairs or reinforcements.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and small engine systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical bulletins.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with field crews and supervisors.
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills.

  • Temperature Exposure: Regular exposure to extreme temperatures depending on seasonal conditions.
  • Noise Levels: Frequent exposure to moderate to high noise levels from power tools and landscaping equipment; hearing protection may be required.
  • Airborne Particles: Exposure to dust, dirt, grass clippings, pollen, and other outdoor elements.
  • Equipment Use: Operation of motorized landscaping equipment and tools, requiring adherence to safety protocols at all times.
  • Terrain: Work on uneven, sloped, or rough ground surfaces, including grass, soil, gravel, and paved areas.
  • PPE Requirements: Use of personal protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, steel-toe boots, and high-visibility clothing as required.
  • Safety Risks: Potential exposure to hazards such as sharp tools, moving equipment, insects, and environmental conditions; strict adherence to safety procedures is required.

The position offers and hourly wage of $23.93 , consistent with Service Contract Act Wages beginning April 1st, 2026. Additionally, you will receive the additional for each hour worked:

  • Housing allowance of $1.75,
  • Ancillary allowance of $1.05,
  • The total compensation will be $27.73 for each hour worked
