Job summary

Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio, TX, is seeking a Landscaping Manager to oversee all landscape maintenance and irrigation operations. You will lead by example in hands-on work, manage vendor relationships, and develop preventative maintenance plans to uphold Hyatt’s standards of excellence.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial landscaping, grounds maintenance, or horticultural operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing commercial irrigation systems, including diagnostics, repair, programming, and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience supervising landscape contractors and vendor relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of irrigation components, controllers, valves, pumps, drainage systems, and water management practices.
  • Ability and willingness to perform physical labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all landscape maintenance operations to ensure the property's grounds remain safe, healthy, and visually exceptional.
  • Perform and oversee irrigation system troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, seasonal adjustments, and system optimization.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance plans for irrigation and landscape infrastructure.
  • Lead by example through active participation in physical landscaping and irrigation work as operational needs require.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for landscape contractors, ensuring contractual obligations and service standards are consistently met.
  • Review vendor scopes of work, proposals, invoices, and overall contract performance for quality, accuracy, and value.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance landscape quality through better planning, vendor management, and resource utilization.
  • Coordinate landscape-related projects that involve multiple departments, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely completion and minimal operational disruption.
  • Conduct regular inspections of all landscaped areas to proactively identify irrigation deficiencies, plant health concerns, drainage issues, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, preventative maintenance, irrigation schedules, vendor activity, and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with local water conservation regulations, environmental standards, and company safety policies.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and capital improvement planning related to landscaping and irrigation systems.
  • Respond promptly to weather-related events and emergency landscape or irrigation issues.

Essential Job Functions

Qualifications
Required

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently walk extensive outdoor areas throughout the property.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, kneel, climb, dig, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • Work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Operate landscaping equipment, hand tools, and irrigation repair equipment safely.
  • Demonstrate Hyatt's values through professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
  • Foster strong working relationships with Engineering, Facilities, Operations, Housekeeping, and external contractors.
  • Promote a proactive maintenance culture focused on guest experience, property appearance, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Continuously evaluate landscape operations and recommend improvements that elevate service while reducing long‑term operating costs.
