Job summary

The Catholic Cemeteries Association is seeking a Landscape Technician to perform general landscape maintenance across Northeast Ohio cemeteries. You will carry out duties under the Landscape Manager, including snow removal and safety-compliant operations.

Full-time, Monday–Friday, 7:15 AM–4:30 PM, with daily travel between cemeteries. Requires physical ability to lift 75 lbs and chemical spraying certification. Benefits and steady schedule offered with career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in landscaping design or horticulture preferred.
• 1–3 years of direct relevant experience.
• 10-hour OSHA General Industry certification.
• Current, valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
• Willing to obtain Ohio Commercial Spray License (current or preferred).
• Clean driving record; pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical exam required.

Responsibilities

• Implement plans as provided by supervisor.
• Ensure all work is completed safely per policies.
• Maintain grounds, vehicles, shop, and worksites with good housekeeping.
• Trim and prune trees and shrubs as required by supervisor.
• Plant trees, shrubs, or flowers per design instructions.
• Operate landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, backhoe, etc.).
• Lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Apply herbicide and fertilizer as directed.
• Prepare gravesite as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain OSHA PPE certification.

Job description

Position Summary

The Landscape Technician will carry out general landscape maintenance duties for all cemeteries as provided by the Landscape Manager. This position is responsible for the implementation of all directions provided by the Landscape and Maintenance Manager, including completing operations on time and meeting all safety guidelines and requirements. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, snow removal and other general cemetery care and landscaping matters within the field.

Position Details

Compensation: Non-Exempt: $17.00 – $22.00 per hour, based on direct relevant experience

Employment Type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:15 A.M. – 4:30 P.M.

Travel: Ability to travel to different CCA cemeteries throughout Northeast Ohio daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement plans as provided by supervisor.
• Ensure all work is completed in adherence to safety policies and guidelines.
• Maintain a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets in the field, vehicles, shop, and worksites.
• Trim and prune trees and shrubbery as required by supervisor.
• Plants trees, shrubs, or flowers, according to instructions and planned design of landscaped area.
• May operate a variety of equipment, including but not limited to, mowers, string trimmers, Cushman, backhoe, dump truck, tractor, bed edger, hedge trimmer, chain saw.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
• Apply herbicide and fertilizer to designated areas, using sprayers and spreaders.
• Prepare and maintain gravesite as directed by supervisor.
• May be used in field as needed.
• Maintain OSHA PPE certificate.
• Ability to hand pull weeds around bushes, trees, and flower beds.
• Maintains awareness of landscaping best practices and plant knowledge.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

What You Will Need to Succeed

Education & Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Associate’s degree in landscaping design/horticulture preferred
• 1–3 years of direct relevant experience
• 10-hour OSHA Certified, General Industry
• Current, valid driver’s license
• Current, valid CDL license preferred
• Willing to obtain current, valid Ohio Commercial Spray License
• Current, valid Ohio Commercial Spray License preferred
• Clean driving record
• Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical exam required

• On-site, in person, with the ability to report to different cemeteries within the Association daily
• Monday through Friday schedule; no weekend work required
• Exposure to outside weather conditions on a daily basis
• Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, and vibration
