Job summary

Citizens in New Bedford, MA is seeking a Landscape Technician to perform routine landscape maintenance across multiple sites and assist with light carpentry and building upkeep.

You will work with the landscape team, operate equipment including mowers, plant and maintain beds, and respond to work orders with a focus on safety and quality. This full-time role offers 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with potential OT; requires HS diploma, valid driver’s license, and ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of landscape maintenance experience, including mowing with zero-turn mowers.
  • Ability to travel using a company vehicle as required.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize daily responsibilities with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with landscaping team on daily tasks and help with equipment maintenance.
  • Follow training and safety practices in equipment use and daily groundskeeping tasks.
  • Perform groundskeeping and building maintenance; mow lawns and assist in landscaping features.
  • Plant, trim, and maintain flower beds, grass, shrubs, and small trees; clean exterior areas.
  • Install hardscaping features as needed and assist with painting touchups.
  • Close out work orders in the CMMS and respond to service requests professionally.

Job description

The Landscape Technician has the responsibility to participate in an efficient and comprehensive landscape maintenance program. This includes having the responsibility for routine landscape maintenance, light building maintenance/carpentry repairs, and light cleaning. The primary focus of this role will be to maintain grass, trees, shrubbery, and ground surface covers.

The Landscape Technician has the responsibility to participate in an efficient and comprehensive landscape maintenance program. This includes having the responsibility for routine landscape maintenance, light building maintenance/carpentry repairs, and light cleaning. The primary focus of this role will be to maintain grass, trees, shrubbery, and ground surface covers. In this role you will respond to colleague and business requested work orders and have a routine schedule of work orders to complete.

Primary Responsibilities Include
  • Work with the landscaping team in daily tasks. Assist as needed for scheduled/unscheduled absences. Help with equipment maintenance and repairs. Assist Landscape Manager and Landscape Tech Lead with coordination of deliveries.
  • Follow proper training and best practices in equipment use, maintenance and daily tasks. Work day-to-day grounds keeping operations of multiple retail banking and main office facilities.
  • Perform grounds keeping and building maintenance duties as required. Assist in mowing lawns either by hand or using a riding lawnmower when needed to expedite work orders or cover for colleagues on PTO. Recommend specific plants, trees, grass, or other landscape features dependent on local site conditions and established Citizens standards.
  • Landscape by planting, trimming, and maintaining flower beds, grass, shrubs, bushes, and small trees. Shovel snow from walkways and apply anti-skid as needed; Clean parking lots, sidewalks, and all exterior areas while performing routine grounds keeping.
  • Perform spring and fall cleanups to remove excess debris, leaves, and trim landscaping. Install new hardscaping, river rock, fencing, signage, and other furnishings as required. Pressure wash building exterior and refresh parking lot painting as needed. Clean gutters and roof drains of debris.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in grounds keeping. Ensure all tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained and utilized in a safe manner consistent with established standards.
  • Close out work orders upon completion via iPad or Computerized Maintenance Management System. Respond to emergency and non-emergency service requests and prioritize work order response. Communicate in a pleasant and professional manner with internal and external customers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 or more years of experience in landscape maintenance required including zero turn mowers
  • Ability to travel using a company sanctioned vehicle (ex: box truck/pickup truck) as required
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully complete multiple tasks independently in an accurate and timely manner in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to plan & prioritize daily responsibilities with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills along with proven positive customer service experience
  • Intermediate or higher-level expertise using iPad, smart phones, computer/laptops, & MS Office applications including MS Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without any accommodation or assistance and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions at varying heights (ladders, roof top, etc.) as required

  • Prior commercial landscape work experience
Education, Licensures, & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Valid active State Driver's License required
  • OSHA or Landscape related certifications preferred
Hours & Work Schedule
  • Hours per Week: 40 hrs./week
  • Work Schedule: M-F 7:00am - 4:00 pm ET and may include occasional voluntary OT evenings or weekends

  • Hubbed out of: New Bedford MA
  • Territory includes: Fall River, MA; New Bedford, MA, Dartmouth, MA and 5 branches on Cape Cod, MA

The salary range for this position is $24 - $27per hour. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the budget, work location, and relevant skills and experience.
