JMJ PHILLIP is seeking an experienced Landscape Project Manager to oversee planning, coordination, execution, and quality of landscape construction projects in New Jersey. You will coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials, equipment, and client expectations while maintaining schedules and budgets.

The role demands strong project management, organizational, leadership, and communication skills, plus hands-on supervision on site and deep knowledge of landscape construction processes.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Landscape Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, execution, and quality of landscape construction projects. This role requires strong project management, organizational, leadership, and communication skills, along with the ability to coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials, equipment, schedules, and client expectations to ensure successful project completion.

Position Responsibilities

Project Planning & Coordination

• Inspect properties prior to scheduled service and develop appropriate action plans.
• Review site plans and project requirements with the construction team.
• Schedule and lead pre-construction meetings with clients, construction teams, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
• Coordinate the people, materials, equipment, and subcontractors required for each project.
• Assist with job scheduling and subcontractor coordination.

Materials & Equipment Management

• Order required materials and monitor costs, quantities, and deliveries.
• Schedule material and equipment deliveries according to project timelines.
• Manage tools and equipment storage, operation, and maintenance.
• Safeguard tools and equipment from theft, damage, or misuse.
• Request and manage purchase orders in accordance with established procedures.

Project Execution & Quality Control

• Oversee installation of required materials for site development.
• Perform hands‑on work with crews when necessary to meet project and scheduling requirements.
• Conduct regular job site inspections and maintain quality control standards.
• Monitor project progress and address issues that may affect schedules or quality.
• Ensure completed work meets project requirements and client expectations.

Personnel Management

• Train employees on appropriate use of mobile crew management systems and reinforce proper usage.
• Review and approve employee hours on a daily basis.
• Ensure crews follow established operational practices and standards.
• Be present for crew arrivals and provide daily supervision.
• Supervise staff throughout the workday and provide direction as needed.

Safety Management

• Promote and maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
• Ensure employees have and properly use required personal protective equipment.
• Train employees on applicable safety procedures.
• Ensure crews follow company safety policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

Client Relations

• Maintain clear communication with clients throughout project execution.
• Address project concerns and coordinate solutions as needed.
• Ensure clients are satisfied with the quality and progress of completed work.

Prerequisites

• Experience in landscape construction, project management, construction management, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of landscape construction processes, materials, equipment, and site development.
• Experience coordinating crews, subcontractors, vendors, and project resources.
• Ability to read and interpret site plans and project specifications.
• Experience with project scheduling, purchasing, cost monitoring, and quality control.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in the field and perform hands‑on duties when required.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with project management, scheduling, and workforce management software.

Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)

• Certified Landscape Professional or related landscape certification.
• Project Management Professional (PMP).
• OSHA certification.
• Construction management certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Pesticide applicator certification, where applicable.
• Lean Six Sigma certification.
