Job summary

Clayton County Public Schools in Jonesboro, Georgia is seeking a Mechanic II - Landscape Services to support district facilities with landscaping, asphalt repair, graffiti removal, and related maintenance. This role reports to the Grounds Supervisor and requires operation of mowers, blowers, edgers, and other tools.

You will drive district vehicles, manage PPE and inventory, and work in variable outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED certificate required.
• Landscaping experience preferred.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license required; CDL preferred; trade/technical license or certification preferred.
• Independent judgement is necessary; work under Landscape Services Supervisor.
• Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail and Google Docs is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Performs and assists with care and maintenance programs for Landscape Services crafts.
• Operates equipment such as mowers, blowers, edgers, trimmers, ladders and power tools.
• Drives district vehicle to work sites and maintains vehicle PPE and inventory.
• May be on call after hours and assist other Facilities departments as needed.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally, and climb ladders.
