Job Description

As a Laborer, you will provide landscape maintenance, landscape irrigation, or landscape construction support to a variety of industrial, commercial, and/or public properties. Landscape maintenance, landscape irrigation, or landscape construction support includes the safe operation of commercial-grade landscaping equipment and upkeep of plant material and other landscaping elements.

Essential Functions:

1. Performs a variety of tasks involving manual labor in landscape, irrigation, or construction projects.
2. Performs manual and machinery work in preparing surfaces for paving (Landscape Construction).
3. Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
4. Performs materials handling and storage.
5. Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
6. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
7. Cuts turf using various sized power mowers, trimming, and edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blower.
8. Properly and safely prunes shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habit or to remove damaged branches.
9. Lays sod, plants, mows, trims, digs, rakes, prunes, mulches, sprinkler installation, and loads and unloads materials.
10. Plants and maintains flower beds.
11. Properly and safely operates the edger and line trimmer along sidewalks, flower beds, trees, buildings, fences, and other objects.
12. Picks up trash and blows leaves and other organic debris onto the turf before mowing. Mulches the leaves and organic matter when mowing.
13. Performs weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hula hoe.
14. Maintains a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with customers.
15. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director, or HR manager.
16. Must uphold company policies, procedures, and company core values at all times.
17. Other duties as assigned.
