Job summary

The Lewis Group is seeking a groundskeeper/landscape crew member in Orlando to perform lawn care, planting, mulching, and seasonal maintenance. You will follow the crew leader's plans and ensure beds, walks, and walls are neatly edged and trimmed while maintaining clean surroundings.

Applicants should have 3+ years of landscaping experience, be physically capable of lifting up to 60 lbs, and be comfortable working outdoors in Florida weather. Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of experience in commercial landscaping.
• Physical ability for heavy lifting and working outdoors in various weather.
• Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Care for lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, and trimming around beds and walls.
• Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees as directed.
• Mow and edge lawns with power mowers and edgers.
• Plant seeds, bulbs, shrubs, and mulch for protection per design plans.
• Follow planned landscaping designs and instructions from Crew Leader and GM.

Description

• Care for lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
• Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
• Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers and edgers.
• Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
• Follow planned landscaping designs as directed by Crew Leader and General Manager.
• Gather and remove litter.
• Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
• Other duties as assigned.

Primary Accountability

The crew member will typically perform a variety of tasks, which include sod laying mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, and raking.

Requirements

Qualifications/Competencies

• Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• 3+ years of experience in commercial landscaping required
• Ability to handle the physicality of our work: weather conditions, heavy lifting, and extensive walking.
• Ability to speak Spanish is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods of time operating a motor vehicle
• Ability to lift 60 lbs.
• Ability to work in severe weather conditions both hot and cold. Work and travel in inclement weather
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to stand and exert physical effort performing manual labor 50-70% of the time
• Able to tolerate exposure to moderate noise levels

Salary Description

$16.00 - $20.00/hour
